Accountability Committees

Handbook for Colorado Educational Accountability
This is a CDE publication you can download directly from our website. It provides a comprehensive overview of the duties of accountability committees at both the school and district level. A chapter on school improvement planning and another on accreditation are included. There are a number of useful appendices, including a synopsis of accountability law, suggested meeting agendas that help plan the year’s work, and a glossary of educational terms.

No Child Left Behind

*Executive Summary of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001* This is a short, four-page summary of NCLB from the federal government’s website.
*Parent Involvement in Education (English)* This is a two-page brochure from CDE’s website that explains the key points of NCLB that are important to parents.
*Parent Involvement in Education (Spanish)* This is a two-page brochure from CDE’s website that explains the key points of NCLB that are important to parents.
*Strengthening Parent Involvement: A Toolkit* This is a comprehensive resource from CDE’s website for involving parents, providing an explanation of the requirements of NCLB and many suggestions for creating parent involvement. It is 95 pages long. Since the file is 3.4 MB, it may take some time to download.
